TRACT 1: Open Air Movement/Patrol Formations and Techniques

This course will cover basic patrol planning, tactical control measures, patrol equipment. It will also cover patrol member duties and responsibilities, hand and arm signals, platoon and squad size formations, movement to contact formations and danger areas, and immediate action drills, fire and movement, fire and maneuver. The training will end with the application of patrol formations into CQB operations.

Ammo Requirements: 300 rounds rifle/ 100 rounds pistol

Student Equipment: Department issue load bearing equipment, Infantry type load bearing equipment preferred, Primary and Secondary Weapons with magazines, Bush Cover/Soft Cover, Helmet, Hearing Protection, Patrol Gloves, Knee and Elbow Pads, Body Armor.

Instructor:

Deputy Nicholas (Nick) Reyna is a 20 year Combat Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. His Billets include: Infantry Rifleman, Infantry Squad Leader, Reconnaissance Team Leader, Reconnaissance Platoon Sergeant, Amphibious Reconnaissance Instructor, Military Advisor, Force Reconnaissance Platoon Sergeant, Force Reconnaissance Operations Chief, Drill Instructor and Inspector/Instructor Operations Chief.
Some of his qualifications include: Helicopter Cast Master, Helicopter Rope Suspension Trainer (HRST), Static Line Jumpmaster, Military Free Fall Jumpmaster, Dive Supervisor (SCUBA and LAR V), Primary Marksmanship Instructor, Marine Combat Instructor of Water Survival (MCIWS), Master Instructor and a USMC Sniper.
He has served as Deputy for the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office for over 8 years. During his tenure he has been qualified as a Weapons Instructor, SWAT Instructor, Police Interactions with Youths Instructor and is Crisis Intervention Qualified.

TRACT 2: Tactical Shield Instructor Course

Safariland Training Group Three-Day Tactical Shield Instructor Course is divided into classroom and hands-on instruction. Mornings are devoted to classroom instruction, which is reinforced with practical range application in the afternoon. The first day covers fundamentals and individual skills; the second and third day addresses advanced skills such as victim rescues. Topics of instruction include, but are not limited to, the following: Ballistic Hand Shield Deployment, Basic Shield Needs, Fundamental Clearing Techniques, Practical Handgun Qualification, Advanced Team Tactics, Stacking, Multiple Shooters and 5-Member/2-Shield Rescues. Students will be expected to pass a practical firearms qualification exercise and to successfully complete a 20 question written exam with a grade of 70 percent or higher.

Ammo Requirements: 400 rounds handgun/ 100 rounds rifle (optional)

Student Equipment: Class attire is full duty callout gear, including ballistic helmet and vest, and ballistic shield if available. Leg armor is also recommended if available. Students are required to bring and wear vision and hearing protective safety equipment. Students are required to bring materials for taking notes. A second handgun and/or duty rig on support side is a desired option, as are protective masks. Simunition Protective gear (helmet and throat guard) 100 Rounds of simunitions.

TRACT 3: Handgun Techniques for Tactical Operators

The FLETC presents the Handgun Techniques for Tactical Operators Course. This 2 day course identifies handgun techniques that are directly applicable to the tactical operator. This includes 2 handed shooting, 1 handed shooting, long-gun transitions, Tactical Team movement, 1 hand survival techniques, shooting from alternate positions and more. The student should bring the following; their full deployment kit, duty holster and magazine pouches, duty handgun with at least three handgun magazines, long-gun with a minimum two magazines, eye and ear Protection

Ammo Requirements: 1000 rounds of handgun/ 50 rounds of long-gun

TRACT 4: Tactical Carbine Course for MSTOA Operators

The FLETC presents a 2 day Tactical Carbine Course for MSTOA Operators. This course will focus on carbine/handgun fundamentals incorporating tactical accuracy (with and without optics). Areas covered include movement, extreme close quarters shooting, vehicle deployment drills, and movement on urban terrain. The training will culminate with a combined sniper-initiated assault at Limestone Hills. Shooters should have full operational load out to include carbine and handgun, load bearing vest, body armor/helmet, a minimum of 6 carbine magazines and three handgun magazines, eye/ear protection, slings, holster, magazine pouches, etc.

Ammo Requirements: 1000 rounds of carbine/ 150 rounds of handgun

TRACT 5: Precision Rifle Observer Program Tract Closed

The Precision Rifle Observer Program will be a 2 day course. The course will offer training in the areas of Rifle ballistics, (MOA) minute of angle, scope adjustments , Weapons handling skills from various shooting position, and Counter Sniper tactics.
Sniper-initiated assaults, shooting from elevated position that will include unknown Distances, Observation Techniques/Tactical Approaches.
The students should bring their Sniper Rifle System and all collateral equipment, Drag bags, Range finders, Data books, Ballistic charts, kneeling rolls, Safety Equipment.

Ammo Requirements: 300 round of duty ammunition
